Description

In this presentation we offer an argument for design thinking as a natural bridge between the arts, engineering, sciences, and the humanities. At a time where disciplinary silos often act as barriers to education, the interdisciplinary aspects of design (and its practice as a pedagogical strategy) can offer new solutions and new opportunities for teaching and learning. In this presentation we will share some major models of design thinking and provide examples of how design thinking can guide teachers’ STEAM curriculum design. We also describe how design might be woven into elements of STEAM curricula, for more interdisciplinary, creative, and project-based opportunities.
