Date & Time

Description

There has never been a more important time in history to be a social studies educator. Our role is essential to helping students to understand the past and present so they can shape the future. The OER Project’s two courses – Big History Project (BHP) and World History Project (WHP) share the same DNA and approach. They are completely free, available online, and designed to allow students to see themselves in the historical narrative. This session will examine how teaching social studies has evolved, share best practices, tips, tools for teaching historical thinking skills, and will guide participants through lessons in BHP and WHP that can be used in-person or teaching at a distance, designed to inform and develop global citizens.
